Telopea speciosissima - Waratah The waratah is a very well-known Australian icon. It has appeared many, many times in Australian art and architecture, particularly in the early 20th century, and is the New South Wales state floral emblem. The flowers stand out so brightly in the sclerophyll forest around Sydney in spring they look almost like stained-glass windows.
