This sprawling, straggly eucalypt usually only grows to a few metres tall but its large, blue-green, waxy leaves and huge scarlet blooms stand out strikingly in the undulating heathland of southern Western Australia where it grows. It can be a difficult plant to cultivate but when grown successfully it can form a dramatic specimen plant and is not uncommon in gardens in California as well as in Australia.
