The Blush Silky Oak is a beautiful, small tree of rainforest margins where it stands out brightly because of its red and yellow to bronze young leaves. It is found in mid-montane to montane rainforest between Cairns and Mackay. From November to March the mature, blue fruit drop to the ground from where many are picked up and eaten by cassowaries. It makes a very attractive garden plant, the colours in the young leaves enhanced by the yellow to orange inflorescences and the autumn colours in the older leaves. It can be grown as far south as Sydney in eastern Australia.
