Current and upcoming exhibitions:

 

One of David's paintings (Eucalyptus macrocarpa, Mottlecah) has been selected for inclusion in the inaugural exhibition to be held in the Shirley Sherwood gallery in Kew Gardens, London, titled 'Treasures of Botanical Art; Icons from the Shirley Sherwood and Kew Collections', to be opened by Sir David Attenborough on 17th April 2008.

Another of his works (a triptych, 'Snow Gum, Eucalyptus niphophila') has been chosen for inclusion in a 2009 exhibition of selected pieces from the private collection of Isaac Sutton in USA. This exhibition has been organised through the Hunt Botanical Institute, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Three of David's paintings will be included in "The Fruits of Our Labours; Botanica 2008' at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney in April 2008.

A selection of David's work is available for viewing at the Charles Hewitt Gallery in Sydney.

'Botanica 2007 - The Art of the Plant'

Another successful 'Botanica' exhibition; this exhibition has been shown annually at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney and is a showcase of some of the best of Australia's botanical artists and their art.

Two of David Mackay’s paintings were selected for ‘A Passion for Plants’ The Shirley Sherwood Collection – Contemporary Botanical Masterworks, an exhibition at Seiji Togo Memorial Sompo Japan Museum of Art, Headquarters Building, 42nd Floor (top floor), 1-26-1 Nishi-Shinjuku, Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo from 22nd April to 2nd July 2006. There were 120 works by 90 artists from 18 countries, many never exhibited before; none had been shown previously in Japan.

'Botanica 2006 - The Masters' Exhibition

The exhibition was opened by Margaret Olley on the evening of Wednesday 5th July.

Four new paintings by David Mackay were in ‘The Masters’ botanical art exhibition held in the Maiden Theatre at the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney from Thursday 6th July to Sunday 16h July 2006.  Eighteen artists from New South Wales, Victoria and Western Australia were invited to submit work to this exhibition which proved to be one of the most outstanding exhibitions of botanical art seen in Australia for many years.
