The family
Casuarinaceae, comprising the she-oaks, river-oaks, forest-oaks
and bull-oaks, is made up of four genera – Ceuthostoma,
Gymnostoma, Allocasuarina and Casuarina. They are
found from the Philippines, through Indonesia, Papua New Guinea
and Australia to New Caledonia and Fiji.
In
these two plates are illustrated cones from all four genera and
from all the major groups within the largest genus,
Allocasuarina.
