Latest painting

The above image is a detail from my latest work 'At the Edge of Extinction'.

It is a painting of a listed threatened species from Queensland, Neisosperma kilneri. This painting is one of five paintings I will have in the Masters and Moore exhibition in Sydney in April 2013.

 

New Journal published.

The above image (click theback arrow to the left of the image above if the journal image isn't visible)is of a new journal/travel diary published in 2012 by Explore Australia Publishing.

The journal is 13 x 22.5cm, is 144 pages with every 4th page featuring one of my paintings, selected from work done over the past 22 years.

An exhibition of 10 x 10inch paintings by gallery artists

'Fascinator'

A solo exhibition featuring 'Blending In' (image (detail) above) and other works at the Frances Keevil Gallery in Double Bay, Sydney. This exhibition opened on 21st March and ran through to 4th April 2012.

'Masters and Moore'

A group exhibition at the Maiden Theatre, Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney in March-April 2012 (opened 30 March by Prof David Mabberley (Director of the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney) and Prof Marie Bashir AC CVO (Governor of NSW), closed 22 April)

 

'Botanicals: Environmental Expressions in Art'

The Alisa and Isaac M. Sutton Collection

A selection of artworks by 40 artists from around the world

This travelling exhibition was most recently in New York (September 4, 2010 - March 27, 2011) and at the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in Wisconsin, USA from 23 June to 26 August 2012. The exhibition will next be shown at Kew Gardens in London. Negotiations are currently underway to have the exhibition shown in other venues outside USA, including Australia.

  

'Plants in Peril'

at the Link Gallery , London, to 9th April 2012.

Selected works by over 20 artists from around the world featuring endangered plants from thirty countries.

solo exhibition, 'Around the Next Bend', in his home town of Armidale, NSW, Australia

 

David Mackay is a natural history artist with more than 37 years professional experience. His drawings and paintings have been shown in over fifty solo and group exhibitions in Australia and overseas, including notable exhibitions at the Tryon Gallery, London, the Shirley Sherwood Gallery, London, the Hunt Institute, USA, the Smithsonian Institution, USA, the Arthur and Janet Ross Gallery in New York, the Denver Art Museum, the Japan Museum of Art, Tokyo, the NSW National Art Gallery, the New England Regional Art Museum, the Royal Botanic Gardens Sydney and elsewhere.
